Blankenship Life Insurance Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Blankenship Life Insurance ("BLI") and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, sister companies, affiliates, third-party vendors, and parent companies (“BLI,” “the Company,” “we”, “us”, or “our”) collect, use, and disclose personal information in connection with BLI websites (“Sites”) and mobile applications (“Apps”) (collectively, the “Services”) that link to this Privacy Policy.  This Privacy Notice also describes our current privacy practices as required under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, 15 U.S.C. § 6801 et. seq., and North Carolina law.  This Privacy Policy also tells you about your rights and choices with respect to your personal information and how you can reach us to get answers to questions you may have regarding the Privacy Policy. 

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE MAY COLLECT AND USE

At BLI, we recognize and respect your privacy. We take data collection seriously, as evidenced by our Compliance page.  “Personal information” generally refers to any information that can be linked to an identified or identifiable person. The personal information that we collect about you varies depending on the context of our interactions with you. The following describes the types of personal information that we collect from you for our purposes and how we use that information. The term "personal information" also covers certain categories of "sensitive" or "special" personal information that often receives additional protections and/or are subject to additional restrictions under applicable laws. In this Privacy Policy, we refer to this information as “sensitive.”  We may also obtain additional information about you from a third party. 

BLI regards all your personal information as confidential. Therefore, we maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information. However, in the course of conducting our business, there are circumstances in which we may disclose your personal information to third-parties that need the information to perform a business, professional, or insurance function for us. Examples of the types of individuals or third-party organizations and companies to which these disclosures may be made include, but may not be limited to, adjusters, agents, attorneys, insurance support organizations, medical professionals or institutions to verify coverage, the North Carolina Department of Insurance, other governmental agencies, or law enforcement as required by law or to protect a legal interest in the case of fraud or illegal activities, in response to a subpoena.  In some instances, your information may be disclosed to our corporate affiliates (e.g., parent company, sister companies, subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under common control) for the purpose of advising you about additional insurance products and services that these companies offer. These disclosures are only made as permitted by law.

We may disclose your information with service providers. Among other things service providers may help us to administer our Sites and Apps, collect data for analysis purposes, conduct surveys, provide technical support, and process payments, but BLI does not sell, rent or disclose any of your personal information, other than as previously noted, and no mobile information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes.  Should your relationship with our company end, we will continue to limit any disclosures of your personal information just as we would if you continued to be a policyholder through our company.

COOKIES AND OTHER INFORMATION-COLLECTING TECHNOLOGIES

In accordance with applicable law, we may use cookies, web beacons or other tracking technologies (collectively, “cookies”) on our site. A cookie is a small amount of data that is transferred to visitors’ web browsers and/or stored on your device as you are browsing; they are processed and stored by your web browser. We may use cookies to improve the Services and provide features that are tailored to your needs.

The information collected by these tracking technologies may include (a) your internet protocol (IP) address, unique device identifiers, location, browser type, and Internet service provider information; (b) information about when and how you access and use our websites or Services, such as the domains you visit, what features you used and for how long, the website that referred you to us, and date/time stamps associated with your usage; (c) information about the device you use to access the websites or Services, such as device type, device ID, and device/browser settings; and (d) location of the device used to access the websites or Services derived from GPS or WiFi use.  Examples of where these cookies are used include to determine when you are signed in, to determine when your account has been inactive, and for other troubleshooting and security purposes.

You can instruct your browser to refuse all Cookies or to indicate when a Cookie is being sent. However, if you do not accept Cookies, you may not be able to use some parts of our Service.

HOW WE PROTECT PERSONAL INFORMATION

Protecting your personal information is important to us, as evidenced by our Compliance page. While we strive to maintain the security of your information by using appropriate measures designed to protect our systems, no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of any information that is disclosed online.

If you choose to create an online account, you will be prompted to create a password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password, and you are responsible for any access to or use of your account by someone else that has obtained your password, whether or not such access or use has been authorized by you. You should notify us of any unauthorized use of your password or account.

MODIFICATIONS TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

From time to time, we may update and post revisions to this Privacy Policy. Any changes will be effective immediately upon the posting of the revised Privacy Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information on our privacy practices. This Privacy Policy was updated as of the effective date listed above.

‌How long we retain your personal information depends on the context in which, and purposes for which, we collected it. We generally retain personal information for as long as necessary for achieving the purposes for which it was collected or processed, unless a different retention period is required by applicable law.

YOUR INSURANCE POLICY RECORDS

You are entitled to be informed regarding the nature of information maintained in our records concerning you and to access this information, as well as to obtain a copy. Should you believe that any information in your file is inaccurate, you are required to formally notify us of your concerns, substantiating your claims with reasons for your conclusion and specifying the corrections, amendments, or deletions you wish to see made. Upon receipt of your request, we will conduct an investigation into the matter. Should we decide to correct the inaccuracies, we will ensure the correction is disseminated to any individual or organization to whom we have previously disclosed the information, to any person you have designated, and in accordance with legal requirements. In the event that we choose not to correct the inaccuracies, we will maintain a copy of your request along with any additional information you submit. Furthermore, should we disclose any information from your records at a later date, we will include a copy of your correction request and any supplementary information you have provided.
